A pair of lion and a pair of Mithun gifted by Rajiv Gandhi were also introduced later. The area where the lions are kept are fenced to ward off distracting villagers.

Renuka Sanctuary Himachal Pradesh which is under the jurisdiction of Shimla Wildlife Division, has maintained the ecological order of the forest almost perfectly. Statistics shows that very few animals have perished in the vicinity of this forest reserve.
